Is Levitra effective?

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Even though you may have problems with high levels of cholesterol, hypertension or diabetes, every clincical test has proved Levitra the safe and reliable way to bring back your erections whenever you take it. The evidence shows that Levitra not only works fast, but its effects also last for up to six hours. With Levitra as your partner, you can bring romance back into your life. Take this drug and it starts to work in as little as twenty-five minutes in some patients (but more usually around forty-five minutes) and remains active for up to six hours — more than enough time in which to finish sexual intercourse.

Talking to your doctor about Levitra

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

In most countries, Levitra is available on prescription. You will also find it over-the-counter in most of the remainder and you can always buy Levitra online. Before taking any new prescription medication, it is always advisable to consult your doctor. If you go to see your regular medical practitioner, he or she will have access to your medical records. This saves time because the doctor can review your medical history quickly before responding to your request for treatment. But this does not relieve you of the need to give up-to-date information about any:
additional drugs;
health supplements;
herbal remedies; and
dietary supplements
that you have begun to take since your last visit.

If you decide to see a different doctor — perhaps you feel it will be less embarrassing to discuss such delicate issues with a stranger — take your time and give a comprehensive outline of your medical history during the first consultation. The problem you need to address is that a significant number of older drugs have fallen out of patent protection and are now available as generics over-the-counter or from online pharmacies without formal prescription. Similarly, many of the new non-prescription “health” products also contain active chemical compounds. Any time you mix different drugs and other products, there is a risk of adverse reactions. You should try to ensure that there will be no danger if you add Levitra to the mix. Another issue that you should address when you go through your medical history is whether you have any allergies to medications, foods, pollens or other substances. Such allergies can demonstrate a predisposition to be allergic to some classes of drugs.

If you do decide to buy Levitra online without first seeing a doctor, the label and accompanying notes with each pack of Levitra explain the more common medications and products to avoid. In particular, even though you may have performance anxiety and want to ensure that you do not fail to deliver, never give into the temptation to take Levitra at the same time as Viagra or Cialis. This can be a dangerous overdose.

If you are more than fifty-five years old, a full physical check-up is in order. Because of your sexual problems, you may have been less active. If you now take Levitra and suddenly subject your body to physical exertion, there is a risk that you will overexert yourself. The older you are, the greater the need to seek advice before taking Levitra.

Next, you should tell your doctor if you have noticed any physical changes in yourself that might explain the failure of sexual performance. Some men find that their penis or testicles slightly change shape or there may have been an episode of priapism where an erection lasted for an unnaturally long period of time. Events of this kind should be carefully investigated before you begin taking a drug that has been designed to produce a harder erection over a longer period of time.

Finally, we should mention some of the myths that surround Levitra and the other drugs for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. These drugs do not have magic properties. If you have unprotected sex, you are at risk of contracting one of the sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) including HIV infection. The only way to avoid this risk is to use a condom. By definition, the reverse is also true. If you already carry an STD, you will pass it on to your partner if you have sexual intercourse without wearing a condom. And, as a final statement of the obvious, because Levitra is not a condom, you will emit sperm in the usual way, and so may fertilise an egg in your partner unless she is taking independent contraceptive precautions.

You should also note that Pfizer, the pharmaceutical manufacturer that markets Viagra, is currently defending a second law suit alleging that it has improperly marketed its drug as restoring sexual desire in men. The advertising forming the basis of both actions failed to mention erectile dysfunction, did not disclose any of the side-effects, etc. The FDA and other regulatory bodies have licensed the three drugs Levitra, Cialis and Viagra as treatments for erectile dysfunction and not as performance enhancers for healthy men. You should recognise that if you have erection problems, the underlying causes may be Diabetes, high blood pressure or heart disease. The best approach is always to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis and get treatment when treatment is needed. Anything else is a bonus from off-label use.

How to Compare Levitra With Viagra

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Levitra and Viagra both belong to a class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase (PDF) inhibitors that are used to treat erectile dysfunction. Recently, they were joined by a third drug–Cialis, which is a member of the same class of drugs but has a few differences. Follow these steps to compare Levitra with Viagra.

Step 1
Go to the products’ websites. Here you will find information about the drugs as well as any special offers that each is offering.
Step 2
Look for differences between Levitra and Viagra. These drugs are very similar; the major difference is that Levitra lasts a little longer–about 5 hours, while Viagra lasts about 4. A newer drug in this category–Cialis–is faster acting (15 as opposed to 30 minutes), and its effects last about 36 hours. Cialis and Viagra are associated with a side effects known as “blue vision,” and Levitra is not.
Step 3
Talk to your doctor about Levitra and Viagra and whether either is a good choice for you. Your doctor might also recommend Cialis because it is not affected as much by what you eat and its effect lasts longer. Your doctor might make a decision on his or her own experiences with patients, or might choose Viagra because it was the first drug in its class and it has been studied in more patients.
Step 4
Look for studies comparing drugs for erectile dysfunction on Pub Med. However, you will find that there have been few head-to-head studies comparing Viagra and Levitra. Also, see who funded the studies you are reading about; for example, the Erectile Dysfunction Observational Study showed some positive results for Cialis, but it was funded by Eli Lilly, which manufactures and markets this drug.
