High blood pressure or Hypertension is one of the major causes behind erectile dysfunction or male impotence. But there is something good in store for the men with hypertension. The Journal of Sexual Medicine published a data in which it says that Levitra, the Vardenafil HCI, can treat erectile dysfunction in men who are taking one or more anti-hypertensive drugs. Men who used Levitra concomitantly with the high blood pressure lowering drugs, it showed overall an 83 percent success in attaining and maintaining penile erection.
The scientists of GlaxoSmithKline had predicted that Vardenafil HCI is a strong molecule and is more effective than other PDE5 inhibitors available in the market. In case of hypertension related erectile dysfunction, patients suffering from this condition can now heave a sigh of relief. Dr Hermann Van Ahlen, University of Muenster , Germany stated that Levitra was well-tolerated and is efficient in giving erection when used with those drugs for the treatment of hypertension . However newer anti-hypertensive drugs including angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin-receptor blockers (ARBs) are less probable to induce impotency.
